Hello fellow Potsdam-area Greeks!
Welcome to the first Green Lakes Get-Together Newsletter!

Thank you to all who attended the gathering at Green Lakes last month.  We were treated to a beautiful day and had a good time reconnecting and socializing!  It was a great turnout and I enjoyed speaking with everyone.  I am so glad you made the trip out to join us!

If you have any pictures you would like to share, please send them to green_lakes@axpzetaphi.org and we will be sure to share them on our website (https://greenlakes.axpzetaphi.org).  We will also be launching some social media platforms.  More on this in future newsletters.

The organizing team held a wrap-up meeting after the event and reviewed what worked and what didn’t.  Fortunately there was far more of the former.  While we had fun planning our “Melted Ice Carnival” activities, apparently that wasn’t a draw.

When asked whether there was interest in doing it again, the answer was a resounding Hell Yeah!  So we are pleased to announce that the date has been set for Green Lakes 2025:  Saturday, July 26, 2025.  We’ve booked the Reserve Picnic Shelter again, so mark your calendars and spread the word for the next get-together.  Let’s make it even bigger and better than this year’s!

That brings me to a few things you can help with.  First, all of you are already on this mailing list, but make sure your brothers and sisters stay up to date by sharing this with them and encourage them to sign up as well.  You can use the “forward” link in this e-mail to send them a copy of this issue, but you can also direct them to the signup link here:  https://axpzetaphi.org/phpList/?p=subscribe&id=1

Next, unfortunately Green Lakes does not offer use of their pavilion for free (who knew?).  We did have a virtual (and real) donation jar at the event to help recover costs, but perhaps I did not draw enough attention to it, as we fell far short of recouping the pavilion rental for this past event.  Could you help by kicking in $5, $10 or even more?  Costs are reasonable, but as I said they are not zero.  Additionally, we’d like to get a start on covering the costs for next year’s event (the rental fee has already been paid).  I would also like to explore purchasing forum software so we could open up communications among and between Potsdam Greek houses even more (I’m surprised no one has done this before).

Finally, if you are interested in joining the organizing team, please reach out to green_lakes@axpzetaphi.org and I will be sure to include you in future meetings.

That’s all for now, but we’ll be back in touch as plans for 2025 develop!
